Lighting of docks in Tournai (Belgium)
As part of the restoration of the Escaut docks in Tournai, the lighting of the docks for functional and tourism purposes was entrusted to Technord.
Technord made use of the latest technologies to meet a three-way objective:
- Aesthetic lighting
- Low consumption of energy
- Low maintenance
Functional lighting
The lighting of the public highway was carried out with the help of lantern-style lighting, adapted to the facades of the period housing. They contain CDO-TT metallic iodide bulbs, chosen for their good colour rendering index. The poles provide a purposefully stronger lighting in this area which is particularly vibrant in the evening.
Scenic lighting
The scenic lighting relies on 880 metres of LED. Light-Emitting Diodes are diodes that emit a white monochromatic light. They do not consume a lot and last for between 50,000 and 100,000 hours (maintenance every 10 to 15 years).
- Integrated lighting emphasises the parapets of the bridges, the guardrails of the docks and the façade of the church.
- Two 400 Watt projectors equipped with a colour change system emphasise the bridge structures.
- The dock's bridges and excavation are equipped with red, blue and green bars. Programming with the help of a DMX command allows for different colours.
